Klimkin on lack of UA-EU summit declaration: "Who needs another piece of paper?"

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin believes that the statements of any Ukraine-EU summits should fix new important agreements and breakthroughs in relations, while there is no sense in signing declarations, which will simply repeat the ideas voiced and laid out earlier.

"It's very simple: who needs another piece of paper repeating what has already been said in the Association Agreement?" Klimkin told a weekly news show on Inter TV channel in a comment regarding the non-signing of a final declaration of the Ukraine-EU summit held in Kyiv this week.

I'm not at all a fanatical supporter of some statements that will be forgotten in 15 minutes," he said.

"Who needs three, four, five pages, of text which only experts will read, and which hold no real breakthrough issues?" said Pavlo Klimkin.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the failure by the parties to the Ukraine-EU summit to sign a final declaration of the Ukraine-EU summit was over the "lack of consensus," according to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.
