Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Ihor Kizim received confirmation about the reasons for the detention of Ukrainian Radio correspondent Pavlo Sharoiko in Minsk - the country’s KGB accuses him of espionage, as reported by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"Immediately, as we were informed about this [Sharoiko’s detention], we sent a note to receive access to the detainee, which we were granted. Our Consul met with Sharoiko to find out the conditions he was being held in whether he has any complaints. Then our Consul met with his wife and lawyer," the ambassador said.
The diplomat also told about his whereabouts - the journalist was placed in the KGB detention center in Minsk.

However, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry still has not issued an official comment on the detention of the Ukrainian journalist.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already sent a note to their colleagues from Belarus on Sharoiko’s case. The journalist was detained on October 25. The Consul visited the Ukrainian and communicated with his family.
