Ukraine must go "long way" to tackle corruption – U.S. Ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said that the Ukrainian authorities have still a long to go in fighting corruption, although they have made many advances, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine tweeted.

And though the Ukrainian Government has made many advances since 2014 in reducing corruption and being more accountable to its citizens, we all recognize that there is still a long way to go," Yovanovitch was quoted as saying.

According to the announcement, today, on World Anti-Corruption Day, the Embassy held an anti-corruption quest game for Ukrainian youth.

Recently, special attention is being paid to Ukraine on the part of the Western powers and international organizations that expressed their support for Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies following the latest developments – criticism toward NABU, in particular, by Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, registration in the Verkhovna Rada of a bill on enabling parliament to dismiss leaders of anti-corruption bodies, the removal of MP Yehor Sobolev from the post of chairman of the committee on prevention and combating corruption.
