Ukraine tops the list of countries with the most money transfers from migrants living in Europe, 271 MPs supported at first reading the new law on local elections, and the SBU is investigating 4,868 cases involving threats to state security.

1st place was obtained by Ukraine in the list of countries with the largest money transfers from migrants living in Europe, according to a report by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Thus, in 2014, Ukrainians sent home $7,587,000. In second place is Poland, and Nigeria is in third.

2 students, citizens of Jordan, injured as a result of a large-scale brawl on a university campus in Kharkiv on the night of June 12 have been evacuated to Amman, the capital of the kingdom, at the initiative of the Jordanian authorities, according to Kharkiv Regional State Administration. Ukrainian officials say that the victims were in severe condition: one suffered a stab wound to the chest, and the second - an open head injury. Currently, the city hospital emergency care in Kharkiv is still treating four other victims - two Ukrainians and two Jordanians.

A 9% economic decline in Ukraine is predicted for the end of 2015 by the Ministry of Economy. The forecast is close to those given by the EBRD and the World Bank.

40 intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of overcoming missile defense systems were promised to the Russian army by Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the missiles will be put to service in 2015.

54 Russian military servicemen have been detained and prosecuted in Ukraine, reports the Central Investigation Department of the SBU. In particular, six of them were sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven to thirteen years.

60 applications for asylum in Ukraine from citizens of CIS states were received by the country’s State Migration Service this year. According to the Department for Foreigners and stateless persons, the number of such applications has increased from three to five in the previous years, up to 130 in 2014.

271 out of 337 Ukrainian lawmakers registered in the session hall supported at first reading the adoption of the law on local elections.

600 km of bicycle paths are planned to be built in Kyiv by the city authorities, according to the Kyiv City State Administration. The city administration calls this an indicative plan, with a several-years implementation period. This year, two routes are planned to be opened.

4,868 cases involving threats to state security are being investigated by the Security Service of Ukraine. First of all, those cases relate to the events in eastern of Ukraine.

8,500 Ukrainian prosecutors will lose their jobs by 2018, that’s according to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine. The office reports that today the number of its personnel amounts to 18 500, a record number which is even larger than in Russia.

9,000 people make up the number of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory, according to the headquarters of the anti-terrorist operation. The group is armed with 532 armored combat vehicles, 153 artillery units, 190 tanks, 89 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 66 air defense systems and 4 units of Tochka-U MLRS. At the same time, nearly 33,000 people comprise the illegal armed militant groups in the Donbas, armed with over 368 tanks, over 940 armored vehicles, and 375 multiple rocket launcher units.

In turn, NATO noted that in recent months, Russia has supplied over a thousand pieces of heavy military equipment - tanks, artillery and advanced air defense systems to the militants.

1,341,560 internally displaced people (about 1.1 million families from the Donbas and Crimea) are registered on the government-controlled territory of Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Social Policy. The ministry noted that 401,000 families requested financial aid. To date, such aid has been assigned to 326,000 families.

$41.5 million is expected to be received in 2015 from donors by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants from the Donbas and Crimea.

The population of Ukraine as of May 1, 2015 amounted to 42,854,106 people, reports the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. According to the agency, in April of this year, the population decreased by 19,500 people. The presented data excludes the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
