"Taking into account the relevance of the issues on strengthening control of the work of MPs and considerable public attention to these issues, I proposed to Chairman of the Constitutional Commission, Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman to provide a thorough and comprehensive review of the above-mentioned e-petition regarding the possibility of recalling MPs on a popular initiative," Poroshenko said.

According to the president, the author of this petition, the representatives of political parties, government agencies, civil society institutions, legal scholars and experts should be involved in addressing this issue.

In addition, the Law on Local Self-Government was supplemented by the possibility of recalling municipal and rural chairmen on popular initiative.

Before considering any further legislative amendments on these issues, it is necessary to check how these mechanisms practically work, but now changing them is inappropriate, Poroshenko says.
