The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service has reported that two Ukrainian citizens and four natives of southeastern Asian countries who were on board were killed in the crash of a Mil Mi-2 helicopter in Slovakia on November 11.
The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service said that a border guard patrol heard the noise of an engine of an unidentified aerial vehicle under the conditions of bad visibility at about 04:00 local time on November 11 in the direction between the Ukrainian city of Uzhgorod and the Slovakian village of Vysne Nemecke. This information was immediately reported to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Slovakian border guards.
"Searches for the possible sites of taking off and landing immediately started on both sides of the border. An Mi-2 civilian helicopter which has crashed was discovered as a result of the search carried out today in Slovak territory 35 kilometers from the border. The aerial vehicle had been carrying two Ukrainian citizens and four natives of southeastern Asia, including two women," the agency said in a press statement released on Friday evening.
All those on board the Mi-2 were killed.
"It is possible that this helicopter was used for trafficking illegal migrants. Efforts continue to clarify the circumstances surrounding the crash," the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service reported.
