Acting Rector of the National Aviation University of Ukraine (NAU) Volodymyr Kharchenko says the criminal case against him has been completely fabricated and added that the Ukrainian Security Service has no evidence against him.
"People came, they introduced themselves as NABU officers [National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine], I got falsely accused. No charges were brought against me," Kharchenko told Hromadske Radіo.
These events are related to the fact, according to Kharchenko, that he has opposed the construction of a residential complex in the university territory that has nothing to do with the educational establishment.
Kharchenko has also noted that the elections of a new rector of the university will soon start, and that is how the "unwanted candidates" are kept out of the election process.
He also informed that he had been brought to hospital due to a spike in blood pressure that led to hypertensive crisis. He denied all allegations of bribery.
"I did not extort anything. There is no evidence of that," the acting rector said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the acting rector of the National Aviation University was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of EUR 170,000.
