Kyiv house explosion death toll rises to two people

The death toll in the explosion of a house in Kyiv's Holosiyivsky District increased to two people, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Situations Service.

Two people were killed in the explosion: a woman born in 1972 and a man whose personal data is being established, according to the operative information as of 20:00, the report said.

According to preliminary information, the gas explosion caused the building to collapse.

It was reported earlier that as a result of the explosion a woman born in 1972 died, her two children were orphaned. Seven people were injured, including a 14-year-old boy. A total of about 70 people are registered in the house.

Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 2 of Article. 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of fire safety requirements established by law).
