One Ukrainian killed in terrorist attack on hotel in Kabul – Ukraine's Foreign Ministry

One Ukrainian citizen was killed in an explosion yesterday, January 20, as a result of a terrorist attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, according to official representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's Consular Service Department Vasyl Kyrylych.

"A Ukrainian citizen has been killed in a terrorist attack on a hotel in Kabul. The consul of Ukraine is leaving for Kabul. Quick and coordinated action is required on the site of the incident," he tweeted.

A foreigner was among those killed before Afghan forces secured the hotel, according to Nasrat Rahimi, a deputy spokesman for the Interior Ministry, who did not provide additional details on the nationalities of the victims. Seven Afghans were wounded, he said.

Afghan security forces went on every floor of the six-story hotel in a clearing operation that left four attackers dead, ministry spokesman Najib Danish said.
