Ukraine gets batch of antiviral drugs from India for COVID-19 patients

It will be enough for about 5,000 patients.

Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says the Republic of India has sent Ukraine a batch of OMVIR antiviral drugs that are used to treat patients with COVID-19.

"Yesterday, India handed over 50,000 doses of OMVIR to Ukraine," he said at a briefing on Tuesday, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

According to Stepanov, Oseltamivir Phosphate is the active agent of OMVIR, and this drug is included in the Ukrainian protocol for the treatment of the coronavirus.

The minister added the batch would be enough for about 5,000 patients.

As UNIAN reported earlier, 638 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 54,771 as of the morning of July 14.
