Ukraine overtakes China in number of registered COVID-19 cases (Map)

More than half of all infected worldwide have recovered.

The world has already seen 22,328,069 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection since the outbreak of the pandemic, that's as of 6:30 Kyiv time on August 20.

At the same time, 14 261 142 patients have recovered, according to an interactive map of COVID-19 spread, developed by Johns Hopkins University.

The United States, as before, remains on the top of the list in terms of the number of reported cases: 5,529 347, Brazil goes next with 3,456,652 cases, then comes India with 2,767,273 cases, and Russia with 935,066 cases officially reported.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 786,303 COVID-19 related fatalities have been reported.

COVID-19 in Ukraine: latest developments

Ukraine on August 19 reported the highest-ever daily spike in COVID-19 cases: 1,967.

In Kyiv alone, a sharp rise by 215 cases have been reported on August 19, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
