The official assures that the current measure is a balanced alternative to a full lockdown.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said the weekend quarantine introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers last week may stop the constant growth of new coronavirus cases in two to three weeks, as well as flattening the curve when there are 12,000-15,000 new daily cases.
"The weekend quarantine is a balanced alternative to a full lockdown. If we all together adhere to the anti-epidemic rules, we will see the result in two to three weeks. The result is flattening the curve to 12,000-15,000 new daily cases. In this case, we will be able to somehow lessen the load on the healthcare system and support our doctors. This is a human resource, and it is not endless," he said at a government meeting on Wednesday.
