Prices of beef and pork were by 1.7-2.2 times higher on the average than those of chicken carcasses in 2017.
Russia may withdraw from the World Trade Organization (WTO) in case the European Union's claim is satisfied to recover EUR 1.39 billion a year over the restriction of pork imports, as stated by the first deputy head of the economic committee of the Russian Federation Council, Sergey Kalashnikov, RIA Novosti reported.
The Republic of Belarus has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of pork from Ukraine's Zhytomyr region in connection with outbreaks of an acute virus disease of animals – African swine fever (ASF) in that area, according to a post on the website of the Department of Veterinary and Food Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.
Output of fresh or chilled pork in Ukraine in January-August 2017 was 163,000 tonnes, which was 4.2% down year-over-year, according to the State Statistics Service.
Procurement prices of pork in live weight grew by 3% on a weekly basis, according to the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.
