Ukraine's sugar beet output in January-October 2017 increased by 2.5% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 9.19 million tonnes, according to the State Statistics Service's press service.
Ukrainian sugar refineries have processed 6.37 million tonnes of sugar beets and produced 874,300 tonnes of sugar since the launch of the current sugar production season on August 30, according to the Ukrtsukor sugar producers' association.
Experts predict that sugar exports from Ukraine will fall by 35% in the current 2017-2018 marketing year (MY, September 2017 – August 2018), to 500,000 tonnes of sugar from a record high 767,300 tonnes reported in MY 2016 – 2017, according to the press service of Ukraine's National Association of Sugar Producers.
Ukrainian sugar producers have shipped 751,000 tonnes of sugar abroad since the beginning of the 2016/2017 marketing year (September 2016 through August 2017), which was six times up on the 2015/2016 marketing year, according to the press service of the Ukrtsukor sugar producers' association.
Ukraine shipped 48,400 tonnes of sugar abroad in May 2017, which was 33% down on the previous month, according to the Ukrtsukor association of sugar producers.
