The High Court of London has ordered Ukrainian tycoon Rinat Akhmetov's SCM financial and industrial group to pay extra $760 million on June 26, 2018, for Ukraine's telecoms giant Ukrtelecom and rejected SCM's counterclaims over the termination of the contract for the purchase of the telecoms operator, according to the news portal Liga.net.
One of the largest Ukrainian telecoms operators, Ukrtelecom, increased twofold its net profit in January-June 2017 (H1) year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 355.3 million, or US$13.8 million, according to a company announcement in the National Securities and Stock Market Commission's information disclosure system.

Ukraine's State Property Fund (SPF) has lodged a lawsuit with a Kyiv-based economic court against Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov's ESU company and the State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine to cancel the sale of shares of Ukraine's telecoms giant Ukrtelecom and recover UAH 2.17 billion, or US$82.1 million, in fines, according to the SPF's press service.
To ensure the state interests and redeem losses, Kyiv's Pechersky court has satisfied a claim filed by the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) to seize shares of Ukrainian telecoms giant Ukrtelecom and its mobile division, Trimob.
