Ukrainian farmers have harvested 59.9 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from 14 million hectares (96% of the target) as of November 29, with an average yield of 4.26 tonnes per hectare, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has curtailed by 1 million tonnes, to 27.5 million tonnes, its forecast for the maize yield in Ukraine in the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY, July 2017 - June 2018) compared to the August forecast, according to a posting on the agency's website.
Ukrainian farmers have completed harvesting of this year’s early grains and leguminous crops, having threshed some 37.3 million tonnes from an area of 9.6 million hectares, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported Monday.
Head of the agriculture department at the National Weather Center in Kyiv Tetiana Adamenko says that summer drought observed in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava and Kirovohrad regions will lead to a significant decrease in the yield of grain crops in Ukraine.
