Donbas war casualties in past day: One Ukrainian soldier killed, three wounded

Russian-led forces used proscribed weapons, including 120mm mortars, both in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors.

One Ukrainian soldier was killed in action and another three were wounded in action in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, in the past day.

"Unfortunately, one Ukrainian defender was killed and another three were wounded in enemy fire," the press center of the Ukrainian Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters said in an update on Facebook as of 18:00 local time on Tuesday, February 20.

In total, there have been eight instances of shelling by the Russian-led forces since the beginning of the day," it said.

In particular, the enemy used 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and an anti-aircraft system to repeatedly attack Ukrainian troops near the village of Troyitske in the Luhansk sector. Infantry fighting vehicles were also engaged.

What is more, the invaders used mortars, grenade launchers and small arms to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Krymske. They violated the ceasefire near the village of Katerynivka, resorting to grenade launchers.

Ukrainian troops stationed near the village of Pisky close to the ruined Donetsk airport in the Donetsk sector came under 82mm mortar fire. The enemy also used cannons of infantry fighting vehicles and large-caliber machine guns. Proscribed 120mm mortars were used to fire at Ukrainian positions near the village of Lomakyne.

Ukraine's ATO HQ earlier reported that the casualties on February 19 included one killed and four wounded soldiers.
