The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions and civilian areas in eastern Ukraine 78 times in the last day, including 35 attacks from 18:00 to midnight, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) wrote on its Facebook page on Friday.
"At 21:30 Kyiv time, the Russian terrorists fired from a tank on residential areas of the village of Novhorodske from the occupied town of Horlivka. From 20:30 to 23:30, they were firing 152mm and 122mm artillery on ATO forces near the villages of Opytne and Berezove, and the town of Avdiyivka. At 21:00 Kyiv time, they were firing 120mm mortars on Ukrainian army positions near the village of Pisky for more than an hour," the press center said.
Russian proxies also repeatedly fired on ATO forces near the villages of Novhorodske, Rozsadky, Kirove, Stanytsia Luhanska, Sanzharivka, Luhanske, Lozove, Opytne, and the towns of Avdiyivka and Maryinka.
According to the press center, as of 06:00 Kyiv time on July 24, the shelling continued.
"From 02:45 Kyiv time, Russian-terrorist troops were firing tank shells on the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces near the village of Pisky for more than an hour. From 04:30 Kyiv time, they were firing 120mm mortars on our positions near the town of Krasnohorivka for more than an hour. In addition, they fired small arms on our troops near the towns of Maryinka and Popasna, and the villages of Pisky, Kriakivka, Luhanske, and Lozove," the press center said.
