About 53,000 Russian military are still on the border with Ukraine, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov said on Ukrainian television’s Channel 24.
"The concentration of Russian troops along our common border is unchanged for the last six months - it is about 50 battalion tactical groups and about 53,000 people," he said.
According to Turchynov, the Russian troops are also in the militant-controlled territories of Donbas.
But Russia has consistently denied any involvement in the conflict in the east of Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Turchynov said that Russia’s offensive was still possible in Donbas, although Ukraine had a huge advantage at the diplomatic level.
