Donbas truce: Ukraine reports enemy provocation on contact line

Russia's hybrid military forces in Donbas on August 5 fired a grenade in an act of provocation amid the recently-agreed ceasefire.

The enemy employed an under-barrel grenade launcher near the village of Shumy, the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation wrote in a morning update on Facebook on August 6.

"Isolated random shots posed no threat to life and health, so our soldiers held fire. Joint Forces complied with the ceasefire, being ready to adequately respond to possible insidious actions by the adversary," reads the report.

No casualties were reported among Ukrainian troops over the past day.

Since Thursday midnight, no attacks by Russian Federation's armed formations have been recorded, the JFO HQ said.

• Participants in the Trilateral Contact Group (Ukraine, Russia, and OSCE) on the peace settlement in Donbas on July 22 agreed on a complete and comprehensive ceasefire along the contact line from 00:01 on Monday, July 27.
• The new ceasefire regime was enforced at 00:01 Kyiv time on July 27.
• On the very first day of the newly-agreed truce, Russia's hybrid military forces mounted three attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine.
• Ukraine reported more fire provocations were reported over the past few days.
