According to Khrapchinsky, we lack, in particular, a sufficient quantity of high-tech weapons that would help us aim more accurately.
In addition to simply expressing dissatisfaction with the work of the Ukrainian Air Force, it is necessary to talk about the capabilities available to them. This was stated by Anatoliy Khrapchinsky, director of development at a defense enterprise and reserve officer of the Air Force.
Responding to a question about the shortcomings in the work of mobile fire groups, he recalled that previously people from mobile fire groups (MFG) were transferred to the Ground Forces.
"Such steps at the beginning of 2025 led to the fact that at the beginning of 2026 we began to demand that the Air Force increase or improve its capabilities, taking away the main tool at the beginning," the expert noted.
In addition, Khrapchinsky noted a significant improvement in the enemy's technical capabilities of its attack drones. The Russians are also actively obtaining information from "Shahed" drones, which allows them to bypass MOG or other air defense systems, making interception difficult.
"The enemy actively takes advantage of bad weather conditions, for example, by operating Shahed drones directly in the clouds in order to avoid the visual possibility of intercepting these Shahed drones," he said.
Yes, Khrapchinsky stressed, we do not have enough high-tech weapons, that is, radar or other detection means that would help us to target more accurately.
"Therefore, I will say here once again that in addition to simply expressing dissatisfaction with the work of the Air Force, we need to talk about the possibilities that are available," the expert stressed.
As reported by UNIAN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier stated that mobile fire groups will be strengthened in the near future to more effectively counter Russian air strikes.
The president noted that regional leaders, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine must ensure additional strengthening of the MFG component in the overall defense system of certain regions.
