At the same time, the country's president slams the move as an "anti-Russian provocation".
Moldova has asked three Russian diplomats to leave the country within seven days.
The move is made in solidarity with Britain after the poisoning of a former Russian spy, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday in a statement on its website, according to Reuters.
At the same time, an openly pro-Russian Moldovan President Igor Dodon is "extremely outraged" by the decision.
"I am extremely outraged by the decision of the Moldovan government to expel Russian diplomats. I categorically condemn this yet another anti-Russian provocation," Dodon wrote on Facebook.
