In Vinnytsia region, local police detained the head of one of the customs posts and his subordinate, both suspected of conspiracy and setting up a corruption scheme of customs clearance of motor vehicles.
Law enforcers have documented numerous facts of the two men receiving bribes.
For each customs declaration, customs officers would demand from applicants a UAH 500 bribe. In general, the local custom chief's unlawful profits amounted to UAH 300,000 (a little over US$ 11,600).

The official and his subordinate were detained on July 15.
A total of UAH 95,700 in cash was seized during the search.
As reported earlier, on July 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with border guards, customs officers, and infrastructure officials in Zakarpattia region said that customs officers, border guards, and other law enforcers and public authorities that cannot put smuggling to a halt should resign.
The President's Office said that the conversation was "frank and harsh".
