U.S. President's national security adviser John Bolton during his Kyiv visit on Tuesday met with Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Danyliuk.

"Ambassador Bolton discussed how the United States can support Ukraine in its efforts to integrate more closely into the Euro-Atlantic community and to protect its industry from the risks of unfair Chinese economic practices," the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine wrote on Twitter.

John Bolton also heard about Ukraine's progress on security sector reform, the diplomats added.

At the same time, Ukraine's NDSC press service said the parties had talked intensification of relations between the two countries in the security sector.

The NSDC secretary thanked the U.S. president's national security adviser and American partners for their support for the efforts by the team of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "Our cooperation opens up many prospects for both countries," Danyliuk.

As earlier reported by The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. seeking to scuttle the pending Chinese acquisition of a Ukrainian aerospace company Motor Sich on grounds that it will give Beijing vital defense technology, that's according to senior U.S. administration officials familiar with the matter.

Bolton's personal interest and involvement in the deal, acknowledged by the senior administration officials, underscores the growing importance of this case to the U.S. national-security establishment.
