The preparation of Ukraine's housing and utility companies for the heating season is in line with the schedule, said Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Eduard Kruhliak at a government meeting.
"As of August 1, the readiness of housing and utility companies for the autumn-winter period is estimated at about 60-65%," he said.
According to the deputy minister, the estimates are based on the results of performance of thermal power plants, as well as companies of the housing, water supply and sewerage sector.
In addition, Kruhliak noted that technical preparation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure for the winter season is being carried out on schedule.

In addition, the Ukrainian government has set a task to industrial consumers and enterprises of housing and utility sector to reduce consumption of natural gas in the 2015-2016 heating season by 30%, and for budget-funded enterprises - by 10%, on the backdrop of suspended imports of Russian gas.
At the same time, it was estimated that about 100,000 km of heating networks must be replaced in Ukraine, according to director of department of life support and housing policy development Serhiy Kushnir.
