Yanukovych team sells two Ukrainian bombers, buyer unknown

Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of Ukraine is investigating into a deal closed by entourage of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych on selling two Tu-95 MS ("Bear") strategic bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, according to legal news web portal at 1i.com.ua.

It is reported that the PGO has received court approval to carry out searches of premises of state-run defense industry conglomerate Ukroboronprom, state enterprise Mykolaiv Aircraft Repair Plant NARP; and has been granted access to examining documents at the Accounting center for surplus and discarded property of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The court approval was provided for investigating the criminal offense that is related to unlawful disposal of property owned by Ukrainian Defense Ministry - Tu-95MS aircraft produced in 1987 (serial numbers 100211732386 and 1000212733144).

According to preliminary information, the deal could have been closed  in the second half of 2013 - January 2014, as evidenced by the dates of the relevant documents analyzed by the PGO.
