Ukraine produces considerably less vodka, boosts brandy output

Production of vodka with 45.4% alcohol content in Ukraine January through July 2015 fell by 22.3% year-over-year, to 10 million decaliters (a decaliter is a metric unit of volume that is equal to 10 liters), while brandy production demonstrated a 24.3% rise, to 1.5 million decaliters, according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.

In July 2015 alone, Ukraine produced 1.65 million decaliters of vodka, which was 19.2% up on June 2015 and 0.8% up on July 2014.

Brandy production in July 2015 grew by 3.1% from June 2015 and 2.6% from July 2014, to 200,000 decaliters.

Output of liquor and other strong drinks in Ukraine January through July 2015 fell by 18.2%, to 4.9 million decaliters. In July 2015 alone, Ukraine produced 600,000 million decaliters of liquor and other strong drinks, which was 24.4% down on June 2015 and 41.6% down on July 2014.

The State Statistics Service said that the figures do not include information from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, and the areas in eastern Ukraine where the Anti-Terrorist Operation is under way.

UNIAN's memo. In 2014, Ukraine saw a 4.6% decline in vodka output from 2013, to 21.4 million decaliters, while production of brandy fell by 11.6%, to 2.6 million decaliters. Production of liquors and other alcoholic beverages decreased by 3.6%, to 10.4 decaliters.
