47th World Economic Forum opens in Davos

Responsive and Responsible Leadership is the theme driving the design of the program, initiatives and projects of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017, held in Davos, Switzerland on January 17-20, according to organizers.

This year's forum will bring together a record number of participants: some 3,000 representatives of governments, international organizations, businesses, academia and civil society from around the world. Representatives of leading international organizations such as the UN, WTO and IMF will attend the forum as well.

During the forum, about 400 working sessions will be held with four areas of focus: the rethinking of global cooperation, capitalism reform, a revival of the global economy, and preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Earlier, Poroshenko's spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko said that Ukrainian President would have an extensive agenda at the World Economic Forum, but he will not participate in Viktor Pinchuk's lunch.

This year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande chose not to take part in the Forum.

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau will also abstain from participation.

However, Chinese leader, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping, will visit this year's forum for the first time.
