Gas transit shipments to Europe not affected by fire at Ukraine's ammo depot

Massive explosions and a blaze at one of Ukraine's largest ammunition depots near the town of Kalynivka in Vinnytsia region have not affected natural gas transit shipments through Ukraine to the European Union countries, according to Ukrainian energy and coal industry minister's advisor Maksym Beliavsky.

"The operation of three gas distribution stations has been halted. Yet, the situation does not affect the transit as the loop gas supply system of the regional center allows us to provide residents with gas in full," Beliavsky wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

Later that day, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman arrived in Vinnytsia region to find out the circumstances and check how the disaster was being eliminated.

As of noon on Wednesday, September 27, State Emergency Service personnel had evacuated over 30,000 people. They also extinguished fire outbreaks at six facilities caused by the hit of shells.
