Turkey interested in privatization of Ukrainian power facilities – Zelensky's Office

The Ukrainian leader spoke up for encouraging Turkish investment in Ukraine.

Turkish-based Aksoy Ventures, which is engaged in power generation, fuel distribution and industrial engineering, is interested in the privatization of Ukrainian power facilities.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine on Facebook on October 17.

"Aksoy Ventures, which combines activities in power generation, fuel distribution and industrial engineering, is interested in the privatization of Ukrainian energy enterprises and the implementation of infrastructure facilities," it said.

Ukrainian Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko said that Ukraine was especially interested in Turkish investment. "Ukraine is interested in the further growth of Turkish investment and the implementation of joint projects, including infrastructure, on the terms of public-private partnership," the presidential press service quotes him as saying.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, stressed that the process of raising investment should proceed without a delay.

"It is important not to postpone meetings until a later date. If there is a chance, we also meet on the weekend, discuss details in order to move faster to raise investment," the press service quotes the president as saying.

"Turkish businesses have proven their quality in the international arena," he said.

Zelensky's visit to Turkey

A number of bilateral documents have been signed during Zelensky's visit to Turkey.

In particular, the following documents were signed: a memorandum of intent between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of Turkey on projects in defense industry; a framework agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey; a protocol of the twelfth meeting of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Turkish commission on trade and economic cooperation.
