Kyiv and NATO have begun discussions on the introduction of the Membership Action Plan, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Kyiv July 10, following the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission, an UNIAN correspondent reported.
"Ukraine has clearly defined its political future in the area of security. The Verkhovna Rada voted, and I, as President, as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, signed the law that sets the goal for our future membership in NATO as the goal of our international security," said Poroshenko.

Earlier today, Poroshenko said that Ukraine was not yet going to apply immediately for membership in NATO.
