Ukraine's envoy to Poland says not summoned to Polish MFA over Saakashvili's border crossing

Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia has refuted reports about him being summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry to provide explanations regarding the situation with Mikheil Saakashvili on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not summon me," Deshchytsia told UNIAN, answering the question whether he can confirm the relevant media reports.

"We were in contact with Polish partners in order to resolve the situation with Ukrainian citizens who could not depart from Przemylyl in a timely manner. Our Consul arrived at the scene from Lublin to assist citizens of Ukraine," the ambassador added.

"As of 10:00 on September 11, the information about the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland being summoned to the Foreign Ministry is not true," she wrote on Twitter.

Radio Liberty also reported referring to Polish MEP Jacek Sariusz-Wolski that Deshchytsia was summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry to provide explanations.
