Release of Ukraine hostages in Donbas, Russia on agenda of Poroshenko's visit to U.S.

The release of Ukrainian hostages and political prisoners in Russian-occupied Donbas and Russia will be on the agenda of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's working visit to the United States where he is to take part in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to his post on Facebook.

"The issue of the release of Ukrainian hostages and political prisoners will be one of the key issues during my visit to the United States for the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly," the head of state wrote.

As UNIAN reported, on September 18-21, Poroshenko will be on a working visit to the United States to participate in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

During the visit, Poroshenko will deliver a speech amid the annual general debate of the UN General Assembly, take part in the UN Security Council summit on peacekeeping, high-level events on UN reform and on countering the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes.

Also, bilateral meetings between Poroshenko and global leaders, namely U.S. President Donald Trump, are scheduled. The White House said that the meeting of the Ukrainian and U.S. leaders will be held on Thursday, September 21.
