In the framework of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, according to the presidential press service.
The parties discussed in details the active involvement of the UN in the settlement of the situation in Donbas, particularly prospects of deploying a robust UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, the press service reports.

The parties stated that the deployment of the mission must take place with clear observance of the basic UN peacekeeping principles.
In the context of the fulfillment of the UN GA resolution on the situation with human rights in Crimea, Petro Poroshenko emphasized the necessity of taking additional measures by the international community with a view to force Russia to fulfill the abovementioned document. In particular, Russia must ensure safe and unhindered access to the peninsula for the existing regional and international monitoring organizations in the sphere of human rights.

The head of state also urged the UN to join the process of liberation of hostages.
Two parties are reported to have discussed the enhancement of Ukraine's staff representation in the UN structures.
