The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has urged Hungary to abandon its intention to hold an October 13 an event titled "Self-determination for Zakarpattia," Minister Pavlo Klimkin wrote on Twitter.
"The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has informed our embassy that on October 13 an event under the slogan "Self-determination for Zakarpattia." Does it mean that Budapest supports separatism?" wrote Klimkin. "We immediately sent a note of protest demanding that this provocation be banned! We are sure that Hungary will continue to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine," the minister wrote.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 25, President Poroshenko signed the law "On Education," language provisions thereof (Article 7 on the language of command in Ukrainian schools) sparked concern among several EU states: Poland, Romania, Hungary, Greece, and Bulgaria.
