Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a telephone conversation on October 12 expressed support for further contacts between Russian special representative Vladislav Surkov and his U.S. counterpart Kurt Volker, according to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
"The officials reviewed the implementation of the Minsk agreements on overcoming the Ukrainian crisis, taking into account the results of the meeting of Russian special representative Vladislav Surkov and his U.S. counterpart Kurt Volker on October 7. They expressed support for continuing contacts in this format," the ministry said.

That was their second meeting. The first one took place in Minsk on August 21.
