The Russian government plans to complete before July 2018 the construction of barrier structures along the de-facto border of annexed Crimea with Ukraine.
According to the Federal Security Service (FSB) unit on the illegally-annexed peninsula, the fence will be some 50 km long, while construction works are set to be completed by July 2018, Russian news agency TASS reports.
Occupation authorities claim that with this move, they intend to "ensure security" on the peninsula. The project will cost the Russian Federation over RUB 200 million.
