Ukrainian correspondent of UA: Ukrainian Radio, former UNIAN reporter in Minsk, citizen of Ukraine Pavlo Sharoiko was detained by operatives of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus, according to the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) Sergiy Tomilenko.
"Ukrainian journalist Pavlo Sharoiko was detained in Minsk on October 25. On the same day, a search was conducted in the apartment where Pavlo lives with his family, namely his wife Olena and their daughter. The arrest was carried out by the KGB of Belarus. Pavlo has only a state lawyer, i.e. provided by the Belarusian authorities. Nothing is known about the involvement of another lawyer by the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus. Pavlo communicates with the family via letters. The first came to his wife by mail only after a week and a half," Tomilenko said.
