Over quarter of Russians admit: Russia invaded Donbas - poll

More than a quarter of Russians admit the fact of invasion of Russian troops in the east of Ukraine, while more than 80% continue to support the annexation of Crimea, according to the results of a survey by the Levada Center, an independent Russian polling and sociological research organization, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

Answering the question whether there are Russian troops in Ukraine, 27% responded "yes," 52% - "no," while 21% could not answer.

In addition, 25% of respondents agreed there is a war between Ukraine and Russia, 65% had the opposite opinion, and 11% did not answer.

A total of 65% of respondents said the situation in the east of Ukraine was "tense," 14% said it was critical and explosive, 10% - calm, 2% - happy, and 9% could not answer.

At the same time, 44% of respondents believe that the situation in the east of Ukraine will remain unchanged within the next year, 13% believe it will improve, 27% say it will worsen, and 16% could not answer.

Answering the question about the relationship between the two countries, 32% said that "Russia's relations with Ukraine should be the same as with other countries – with closed borders, visas, and customs," 52% of respondents said that "Russia and Ukraine should be independent but friendly states – with open borders, without visas and customs," 11% said that "Russia and Ukraine should merge into one state," and 5% could not answer.
