The young man's father, Ihor Skochkov, had served as an aviation squadron navigator with the Army's 25th Guards Military Transport Aviation Brigade.

Twenty-six people are believed to have been killed in the accident, including one person who survived the crash but later died at the intensive care. The only remaining survivor is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
