A 21-year-old New York Army National Guard member who deployed to Ukraine as part of the 7th Army Training Command's Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine died in the west Ukrainian city of Lviv on Sunday, December 10, according to the Democrat and Chronicle, a daily newspaper serving the greater Rochester, New York area.
This week, the Oklahoma Army National Guard's 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team transferred the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine mission to the New York Army National Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, but before the Thunderbirds handed over the reins to Task Force Orion, the two U.S. units, along with their multinational partners, held a mass casualty exercise at the Yavoriv Combat Training Center, according to National Guard website.
A modern simulation center for combat operations has been opened at the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security (the Yavoriv military training ground in Lviv region), where the Ukrainian-American Rapid Trident-2017 exercises are held, ZIK reports.
