Ukraine's double women's reigning world chess champion says she will not attend the $2 million world speed-chess championship after the game's governing body awarded the tournament next month to Saudi Arabia, according to Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).
Ukrainian chess grandmaster Vladimir Onischuk won the first place in the largest chess festival "RTU Open 2017", an international master from Ukraine Sergey Pavlov won the second place, while Israeli chess player Tamir Nabaty ranked third. 655 chess players took part in the festival that concluded on Sunday, August 13, RTU reports.
