Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko took part in the solemn ceremony of taking oath by the judges of the new Supreme Court and congratulated the newly appointed judges, according to the president's press service.
Ukraine's Higher Council of Justice has virtually completed the consideration of disciplinary proceedings under the law on restoring confidence in the judiciary, which provides the vetting of judges who made decisions with obvious signs of arbitrariness during Maidan events late in 2013 – early in 2014, according to lawyer Roman Maselko, a member of the Public Integrity Council at the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the SBU security service have reported on the arrest of two judges from the city of Dnipro who had attempted to corrupt Nazar Kholodnytsky, head of Ukraine’s Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office into closing the corruption-related case already opened against them.
