A Boston-based international animal-welfare group, The Four Paws, said on Sunday, August 20, it was sending a veterinary team to Ukraine to treat dogs near the site of the 1986 Chornobyl nuclear disaster, RFE/RL reports.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced on the 31st anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster that a new Safe Confinement Sarcophagus over the ruined nuclear power plant is to be commissioned in November 2017.
For many, the Chornobyl exclusion zone is plainly associated with the grim computer game "Stalker" or a similar plot of a sci-fi novel by Strugatsky brothers. In fact, things have been getting much better lately. The Zone hosts a number of unique projects the world has not yet seen.
