Ukraine's National Guards hold drills near Chornobyl
Ukraine's National Guard has been practicing live fire training sessions in the town of Prypiat located near the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, within the so-called Exclusion Zone.
Ahead of such sessions, agreed with the Zone's administration, tourists eager to see the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster of 1986 are warned that Prypiat will be closed up for visits, Deutsche Welle reported.
Soldiers training in Prypiat follow safety regulations and check their equipment for radioactive contamination, the National Guard of Ukraine told DW.
"Measures are being taken in the city to prevent the destruction of buildings, and projectiles are only fired at previously prepared targets, for instance into sandbags," the Command said.
