"It has been identified that in 2007 a land plot of about 22 hectares on Lisozakhysna Street was transferred through a lease to a private company for the construction of low-rise residential buildings with social, engineering and transport infrastructure. The transfer was, however, in violation of the land and forest control legislation, as well as the procedures for obtaining and approving permits," a statement read.

The prosecutor's office noted that construction work in this area can result in serious environmental damage, since there are centuries-old plantations growing here, in addition to the forest fund facilities used by utility company Svyatoshyn Forestry.

Data on the criminal offenses was entered into the Unified register of pre-trial investigations under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or position, which leads to grave consequences). The pre-trial investigation is underway.
