Anatoliy Hrytsenko criticized the actions of the authorities against UKROP party and its leader Hennadiy Korban / Photo from UNIAN

"Korban is detained. Kernes is at large. Their past is alike, gang-wise. But the reality is different: with the beginning of Russian aggression Korban became a patriot, while “Hepa” [a colloquial nickname of Kernes, mayor-elect of Kharkiv] remained “vatnik” [colloquial term for those of distinctive pro-Putin views], and is once again promoting friendship with Russia," Hrytsenko wrote on Facebook.

"Those who arranged things or bargained [with the authorities], remains at large, and those who didn’t – the law is being enforced against them, upon command, rather than this law being made equal for everyone, and responsibility for the crime - inevitable. But now this is not justice, this is selectivity…” said Hrytsenko.

"Do Poroshenko and Shokin understand that when they apply the Criminal Code in their sole discretion, there will be no sense of justice or trust in their government in the society?!" the politician asked.

Read alsoUKROP party says its leader Korban detained in DnipropetrovskAs UNIAN reported earlier this morning, law enforcement officials detained the UKROP Party leader, Hennadiy Korban, in Dnipropetrovsk, and raided the party offices.

The SBU and the PGO have confirmed Korban’s detention, saying that he is suspected of forming a criminal group.

In turn, UKROP Party called the searches and the detention of their party members as political repression.

"Only political repressions. Apparently, someone does not like UKROP’s good result in local elections, as we entered 15 regional councils, 150 city councils, and 200 district councils. Maybe someone wants to put pressure on me before the second round. I still can’t understand, but this can only be political repressions. In Dnepropetrovsk, there is a total cleansing of the party," said one of the leaders of UKROP, Boris Filatov, in an interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.

He also elaborated on the details of the detention of the leader of the political council of the party, Hennadiy Korban. "Korban was detained in front of me - without explanation and without a single document. They came to his home, started to break down the door. When I came up [he lives next door] and asked what was happening, I was told that they were looking for a criminal who, according to them, resides in the house. They broke down the door, grabbed Korban on the doorstep and took him to a place unknown," said Filatov.

"The whole city is full of "jammers," mobile networks are down; at every intersection  there are Volkswagens with armed men and tinted windows. Even at the time of Yanukovychm there was nothing close to what’s happening. They search volunteers, this is too much. The next step, they probably will shoot our party members," said the MP.
