Kasko on February 15 announced he would quit the office over corruption. He said attempts to overhaul the court system were being quashed, leading to intentional degradation, inaction and impunity within the prosecutors office, according to Ukraine Today.

Speaking about the impact of his resignation, Kasko says: "There are a lot of honest prosecutors in Ukraine. There are a lot of people who are just waiting for the change in the system. And at the moment they receive this message that this is not the right time and they have to wait, and nobody knows for how long they need to wait. It means that the system remains the same."
