The spokesman of the council’s Information-Analytical Center, Andriy Lysenko, reported the incident at a briefing for the press in Kyiv on Thursday.

"Yesterday in Bryanka, Luhansk region, which is temporarily under the control of terrorists, on the square near the executive committee building, local residents held a rally in protest at not being paid their pension for four months,” Lysenko said.

“A group of terrorists approached the protesters. The militants, who were wearing LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) badges, opened fire in the air and dispersed the protesters," said Lysenko.

UNIAN has been told by a member of the Postup regional human rights organization that the militants are now searching for the organizers of the protest, and those who put up posters the day before the rally calling on people to gather to make demands of the authorities.

The Postup representative also said that during a similar meeting in Sverdlovsk in Luhansk region, gunmen opened fire on people to kill, and three local residents were injured.
