Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has awarded an Order for Courage to Commander of the 90th Assault Battalion of the 81st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Kuzminykh, who was released from militant captivity on Friday.

"We don't leave our people behind! It was great pleasure to shake Oleh Kuzminykh's hand and award him an Order for Courage," the president tweeted on Saturday.

Kuzminykh with seven other Ukrainian soldiers were captured by Russian-backed terrorists near the destroyed Donetsk airport on January 20, 2015. Later, Russian media broadcast footage how militants were bullying captive 'cyborgs,' the nickname given to the Donetsk airport defenders.
